Thus, we embrace our very own Draco Malfoy, and enjoy watching him lip sync to "Rebel Yell." He asked me what would happen when it started to grow out.
I told him he'd have roots.
He then pulled out a gun to shoot the messenger, and we spent the remainder of our Sabbath afternoon offering proof of what happens when unbleached follicles appear above the surface of the scalp—as well as discussing the wisdom, or lack thereof, of root maintenance for an unemployed 14 year old.
And as far as I know, there isn't a government subsidized program for teenage short sightedness....okay, wait. That's completely false, on account of most of what the government funds these days is based on exactly that. Just not as it applies to bleach jobs.
But give it time......

And I'm kind of laughing that he will have a glimpse into the traditional "female maintanence" that we all do.
I've been bleaching Hayden's hair for years... He loves it! And right at first we also call him Draco! He even likes to slick it back like Draco... Kids are such dorks! haha
I want to see it when the roots grow out. Of course, then I want to hear about the part that he tells you, "hmmmm, mom you were right"
picking my battles is how my 15 year old ended up with a rat's tail hanging 6 inches down his neck and hair that looks like he's just been through an explosion in the chemistry lab.

AND (because all my wisdom cannot be contained in one comment alone) I'm enjoying the visual of you spending your Sabbath pointing out all the ladies at church that needed to touch up their roots. Please don't ruin this by telling me you were less judgmental in your teaching :)

My youngest son has had his hair dyed a vibrant blue for over a month. I'm sorta getting used to it. They hate it it when Mom starts liking their hair :o)
I must say that color turned out pretty good on him...kind of a Marilyn Monroe color.
He'll be the leader of the pack, only I know he will keep up his roots and the pack won't.
Cause he did say right here out loud "he has a job".
reminds me, I must go touch mine up ever so slightly like right this minute.
I have to say... Every 14 year old boy I grew up with, had to color their hair at some point. In high school the whole freshmen football team bleached their hair. It was funny to see that many boys walking around with bleach blond hair. The coach was not so happy so he sat them all out one game.

Ben came home from his dad's one summer looking like a pineapple. It was so blonde with a yellow tinge... OOPS!! I was not happy... Choosing battles is also how he ended up with armpit hair on his chin. LOL!!!
As for the post, I just figured it was the weekend and you probably hadn't seen it. LOVE your thoughts about the Phantom role play... BAAHAHA....!!!!!
hahahha been there done that, mine settled on streaks with a streaking cap so the regrowth wasn't so obvious.
OMG Totally Draco Malfoy! Love it! And yes, I agree, you need to save the fighting for the good stuff. This is just hair colour, and quite frankly, he's rockin' it! I love it!
